Indian airstrikes in Pakistan and PoK eliminate high-value targets linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, revealing continued military protection of terror operatives.
New Delhi, May 10, 2025 — At least five top Pakistani terrorists were eliminated in the first wave of Operation Sindoor, India’s precision military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, government sources confirmed on Saturday. The operation involved targeted missile and drone strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the early hours of May 7.

Terrorists Identified:
The five operatives were affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)—two UN-designated terror outfits with long-standing histories of cross-border attacks.

The identified terrorists are:
- Mudassar Khadian Khas (alias Abu Jundal) – Senior LeT commander and in-charge of Markaz Taiba, the Muridke-based headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
- Hafiz Muhammed Jameel – High-ranking JeM handler involved in recruitment and training of fidayeen squads.
- Mohammad Yusuf Azhar – JeM strategist and ideologue, previously sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council.
- Khalid (alias Abu Akasha) – Veteran trainer and logistics chief, known for coordinating attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
- Mohammad Hassan Khan – Explosives expert and liaison for arms smuggling across the LoC.
Military Funerals Reveal Pakistan’s Role
Sources confirmed that Pakistani military officers attended funerals for at least three of the five slain terrorists. The viral images of uniformed Pakistan Army personnel paying respects have once again unmasked the enduring relationship between Pakistan’s military and terror groups operating on Indian soil.
“The presence of senior military officials at these funerals is further proof of how Pakistan continues to protect and empower terrorists against India,” a senior Indian defence official said on condition of anonymity.
Markaz Taiba’s Infamous Legacy
The Markaz Taiba facility in Muridke, overseen by Mudassar, has long been known as the operational headquarters of LeT. It was this very camp where Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, received his training. David Headley, the Pakistani-American operative who facilitated the 26/11 plot, had also trained at the same location.
