
57.98 pc voter turnout recorded in fifth phase of LS elections in UP
Approximately 57.98 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, officials reported.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa confirmed that the voting process concluded peacefully across the Lucknow East Assembly constituency by-election and 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. He noted that there were no untoward incidents reported during the fifth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha General Elections.
“An average of 57.98 per cent voting took place till 6 PM for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in this phase,” Rinwa stated, adding that this figure may change once all data is fully compiled.
Rinwa further detailed the district-wise voter turnout, highlighting that Barabanki recorded the highest turnout at 67.10 per cent, while Gonda saw the lowest at 51.64 per cent. Other notable turnouts included 62.72 per cent in Mohanlalganj, 52.23 per cent in Lucknow, 58.04 per cent in Raebareli, 54.40 per cent in Amethi, 56.15 per cent in Jalaun, 63.70 per cent in Jhansi, 60.56 per cent in Hamirpur, 59.64 per cent in Banda, 57.05 per cent in Fatehpur, 52.79 per cent in Kaushambi, 59.10 per cent in Faizabad, and 55.68 per cent in Kaiserganj.
In the by-election for the Lucknow East Assembly, the voter turnout was 52.45 per cent. Comparatively, in 2019, these 14 Lok Sabha constituencies had a total voter turnout of 58.38 per cent. Rinwa also noted a significant achievement in Lalitpur, where three booths achieved 100 per cent voting due to the efforts of the District Election Officer and local residents.
