As missile and drone attacks intensify across northern India, authorities in Chandigarh and Mohali enforce blackouts, urge residents to remain indoors.
Chandigarh, May 8:
Amid Pakistan’s continued missile and drone assaults on Indian territories following Operation Sindoor, air raid sirens were sounded in Chandigarh on Thursday night, triggering an immediate blackout across the city and adjoining Mohali.

Local authorities have directed all shops to shut down and instructed residents to stay indoors for their safety. The heightened security measures come after heavy shelling in Pathankot and multiple interceptions of incoming missiles by India’s air defence systems across Jammu and Kashmir.
The blackout is aimed at minimizing visibility for aerial attacks and reducing the risk of targeting critical infrastructure in these densely populated urban centers.
This comes as Pakistan escalated retaliatory action following India’s precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on Wednesday.
