January 7, 2025: Amit Banerji, the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Table Space, tragically passed away at the age of 45 due to a cardiac arrest on January 6, 2025. The company released an official statement mourning his untimely demise, highlighting his remarkable contributions to the flexible workspace solutions industry in India.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amit Banerji, our Founder, Chairman, and CEO. Amit was a visionary leader who transformed the flexible workspace solution industry in India. His impact on the company, its people, and the industry will be lasting, and he will be profoundly missed,” the statement read.

Who Was Amit Banerji?

Amit Banerji founded Table Space in 2017, revolutionising how corporate India perceives managed workspaces. The Bengaluru-based company caters to large and mid-market enterprises seeking long-term flexible workspace solutions. Under Banerji’s leadership, Table Space became one of India’s leading workspace solution providers.

Before establishing Table Space, Amit Banerji served as the Managing Director for Corporate Real Estate at Accenture, where he managed multi-million-square-foot real estate portfolios, strategizing and optimizing corporate spaces.

Educational Background and Expertise

Banerji was an alumnus of Punjab Technical University, holding a B.Tech in Computer Science, and completed his schooling at Gyan Bharati. His expertise spanned real estate economics, asset management, and corporate negotiations, reflecting his deep understanding of the industry.

A Sudden Loss Amid Growing Health Concerns

The sudden demise of Amit Banerji follows a concerning trend in the Indian startup ecosystem. Last year, Rohan Mirchandani, founder of Drums Food International (Epigamia), passed away at 42, and Ambareesh Murty, co-founder of Pepperfry, succumbed to a cardiac arrest at 51. These incidents highlight rising concerns about health risks among corporate leaders.
