ATP Finals 2024 : Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Clinches Spot In Men's Doubles
October 30, 2024: Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden have officially qualified for the men’s doubles event at the ATP Finals 2024, set to take place at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy, from November 10 to 17. This prestigious season-ending championship features the top eight singles players and doubles teams based on their performance throughout the year.
Bopanna and Ebden will join an elite group of doubles pairs, including Wesley Koolhof/Nikola Mektic, Kevin Krawietz/Tim Puetz, Harri Heliovaara/Henry Patten, Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic, Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos, Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori, and Max Purcell/Jordan Thompson. Their qualification was confirmed following the elimination of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow at the Paris Masters.
The duo has had a stellar 2024 season, beginning with a victory at the Australian Open, where Bopanna made history as the oldest world No. 1 in tennis. They also claimed the title at the Miami Open and reached the semi-finals of the French Open, showcasing their consistency and skill.
This will mark Bopanna’s fifth appearance at the ATP Finals, following previous participations in 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2023. Although he reached the finals in 2012 and 2015, he was unable to secure a title. After retiring from the Indian national team following the Paris 2024 Olympics, Bopanna continues to make a significant impact on the ATP Tour, aiming for success in this upcoming tournament.
