Biden Praises Kamala Harris' Leadership and Character, Takes a Dig at Trump
Washington DC [US], October 29, 2024: U.S. President Joe Biden praised Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, underscoring her qualifications and character as key reasons for choosing her as his running mate. Speaking at the White House Diwali celebrations on Monday, Biden described Harris as a “smart, tough, and trusted” leader.
In his address, Biden highlighted Harris’ experience compared to her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, quipping that she holds “more experience than the other guy she’s running against” and, most importantly, has “character.” He said, “My wife Jill Biden wanted to be here but she is travelling to Wisconsin, and Kamala (Harris) is travelling as well. You know, I selected Kamala to be my running mate for many reasons. She’s smart, she’s tough, she’s trusted… There’s more experience that she has than the whole of that other guy she’s running against. But most importantly, she has character.”
Biden also touched on a personal connection he shares with Harris, noting the influence their mothers have had on their lives. “One thing we both bonded over was the role each of our mothers played in their lives,” he shared.
As the U.S. Presidential Election approaches on November 5, the race between Harris and former President Donald Trump is heating up. Trump is aiming to reclaim the presidency, while Harris seeks to make history as the first female president of the United States.
A recent poll by The New York Times and Siena College shows the race is neck-and-neck, with Harris and Trump each holding 48 percent in the popular vote, even after a highly turbulent period in U.S. politics.
