Following artillery fire on Indian villages, India retaliates with heavy damage to Pak Army positions amid continuing fallout from Operation Sindoor.
May 7, 2025: New Delhi – In the latest development following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan Army positions have suffered casualties after they opened artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC), according to defence sources. The Indian Army responded with force, inflicting significant damage.
The escalation follows India’s overnight tri-services operation, where at 1:44 AM, the Army, Navy, and Air Force conducted joint precision strikes on nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The retaliatory strikes were in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians, including tourists and a local pony handler, were brutally killed.

Sources confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely supervised the operation, reaffirming India’s resolve to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Strike Sites and Fallout
India’s strikes targeted key terror infrastructure, including the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, and other sites tied to Jaish-e-Mohammed and their proxy outfit The Resistance Front, which claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam massacre.

While India reiterated its operations were “measured, focused, and non-escalatory”, Pakistan retaliated with artillery fire, killing three civilians in Indian border villages.
Locations Confirmed by Pakistan
Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary, confirmed Indian strikes in Kotli, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Chak Amru, Bhimber, Gulpur, Sialkot, and two Muzaffarabad locations. Muridke and Bahawalpur are the known strongholds of LeT leader Hafiz Saeed and JeM chief Masood Azhar, respectively.

Official Reactions
India issued a statement emphasizing restraint:
“No Pakistani military facilities were targeted. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held responsible.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” on X shortly after the announcement, while the Indian Army posted: “Justice is served. Jai Hind.”
In contrast, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused India of waging an act of war and warned of a “forceful response.”
