In a fiery exchange on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’, the British journalist called out a Pakistani guest for suggesting Osama bin Laden was hiding from Pakistani intelligence.

London, May 13:
British journalist Piers Morgan sharply rebutted a claim made by Pakistani comedian Shehzad Ghias Shaikh during a panel discussion on Piers Morgan Uncensored. The comedian suggested Osama bin Laden was hiding from Pakistan’s intelligence services—an assertion Morgan called “utterly ludicrous.”

The panel—held amid ongoing India-Pakistan tensions—included Indian journalist Barkha Dutt, content creator Ranveer Allahbadia, and former Pakistani foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar. The moment turned contentious when Shehzad claimed, referencing bin Laden papers, that the al-Qaeda leader was in hiding from Pakistani agencies.

“The bin Laden papers were released by American intelligence, and Nelly Lahoud’s book clearly shows he was trying to avoid detection by Pakistani intelligence,” Shehzad said.

His comments were met with laughter from Barkha Dutt and disbelief from Ranveer Allahbadia, prompting Morgan to cut in:

“Shehzad, with the best will in the world, what you’ve just said is utterly ludicrous,” said Morgan.
“Bin Laden was living for years a few hundred yards from one of Pakistan’s major military bases. If your intelligence didn’t know that, it must be the worst intelligence service in military history.”

Morgan didn’t hold back in his scathing takedown:

“All they had to do was get a pair of binoculars. He was the world’s most wanted terrorist… You’re asking me to believe nobody in Pakistan’s military saw him?”
“Forgive me, but that’s a ludicrous statement,” he concluded.

The viral moment quickly spread across social media, with viewers praising Morgan for confronting what they called Pakistan’s continued denial around bin Laden’s safe haven in Abbottabad, just a few hundred metres from a military academy, where he was killed in a 2011 US Navy SEAL raid.

This exchange has further intensified scrutiny of Pakistan’s longstanding alleged complicity with terror groups, especially in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
