Canadian and Israeli Authorities Discuss Cooperation on Asylum Seekers

The Canadian Deputy Minister of Immigration, Harpreet S Kochhar, is leading a delegation to Israel aimed at strengthening cooperation and mutual learning between Canadian and Israeli immigration authorities.The focus of the delegation is to explore ways to provide sanctuary in Canada for asylum seekers currently in Israel.

On Monday, Eyal Siso, the Director General of Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority, held a meeting with the Canadian delegation. The discussion centered on potential cooperation between the two countries regarding the voluntary departure of asylum seekers from Israel, the exchange of information, and the promotion of professional collaboration.

Key issues addressed during the meeting included the establishment of a permanent dialogue between the two authorities to create a long-term working relationship and collaboration.
