The "Guardians of the Galaxy" and WWE star receives surprise recognition from Hillsborough County Sheriff, marking another milestone in his multifaceted journey.
Tampa, Florida | April 22, 2025 –
Wrestler-turned-Hollywood heavyweight Dave Bautista has officially been named an honorary deputy sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida — the region he’s called home for over 20 years.
Taking to Instagram ahead of the weekend, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune: Part Two actor shared the news with fans, posting a selfie holding up his badge and ID.
“I didn’t see that one coming either. 🤷♂️😂,” Bautista captioned the post, adding heartfelt gratitude for the recognition.
Bautista gave a special shout-out to WWE Global Ambassador Titus O’Neil and Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, writing:
“Big love and thanks to my brother @titusoneilwwe and Sheriff @chadchronister for the honor and for everything you do for this community. Appreciate you both. Tampa’s held a special place in my heart ever since I moved here 20 years ago. Always has. Always will.”
The post was met with enthusiastic support from fans and friends alike. Actor and fellow Tampa resident Brittany Snow commented, “I’m very proud of you & grateful. ILY,” while O’Neil responded, “Love you brother ❤️.”
This is not Bautista’s first show of dedication to his community. In 2022, he opened DC Society Ink, a tattoo studio in Tampa’s Kennedy Boulevard corridor.
“It has a double meaning,” Bautista shared. “I’m from Washington DC, but Dream Chaser is my moniker. No matter what, you chase your dreams.”
Known for his multiple championship runs in WWE and dynamic acting career, Bautista continues to expand his horizons. His upcoming slate includes:
Bautista’s transformation from WWE superstar to Hollywood icon, and now a community-recognized leader, only reinforces his status as one of the most versatile and beloved figures in entertainment today.
