Virginia Giuffre’s death has stirred new controversy, with family members and her attorney raising doubts over claims that the 41-year-old activist died by suicide.

Three days after her family announced that Giuffre — who famously accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse — had died at her home in Neergabby, Western Australia, her father, Sky Roberts, called for an official investigation. Speaking to TMZ, Roberts pointed to his daughter’s past social media posts affirming she had no suicidal thoughts and urged authorities to look deeper into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Echoing his concerns, Giuffre’s attorney, Karrie Louden, told The Sun that the sudden news seemed unbelievable. “When I got the phone call, I was like, ‘Are you joking?’” Louden said, adding that while Giuffre had faced significant struggles, she was also “looking forward to things in the future.”

“There’s suicide and then there’s misadventure,” the lawyer emphasized, suggesting there may be more to the story.

The family initially stated that Giuffre, a fierce advocate for sexual abuse survivors through her organization SOAR (Speak Out, Act, Reclaim), had succumbed to the unbearable toll of her past traumas. “Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking,” their statement read. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.”

Giuffre’s death came just weeks after she suffered a near-fatal car crash and was briefly hospitalized with kidney failure. In an emotional March 30 Instagram post, she wrote, “I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time.” However, she was later released from the hospital earlier this month, raising further questions about her sudden passing.

Giuffre left behind three children, shared with her estranged husband Robert Giuffre.

Her death follows a string of tragedies linked to the Epstein scandal. Jeffrey Epstein himself died by apparent suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew — who denied any wrongdoing — reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022 after she filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him.

The calls for a deeper investigation into Giuffre’s death now add another layer of complexity to a case that has already rocked powerful circles across the world.
