Former NFL Linebacker Bryan Braman Dies at 38 After Cancer Battle
Houston, July 17: Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman has died at the age of 38 after battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer, his agent Sean Stellato confirmed on Thursday.
Braman was diagnosed with cancer in February 2025 and had been undergoing treatment, including multiple surgeries, in Seattle. A GoFundMe campaign created to support his medical expenses raised over $88,000, with former teammate J.J. Watt contributing $10,000. Several other ex-teammates also offered support.
Braman leaves behind two daughters, aged 11 and 8.
Braman played seven seasons in the NFL (2011–2017), starting his career as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans. Known for his special teams prowess, he later joined the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played a key role in their Super Bowl LII run.
He blocked a crucial punt in the divisional round of the playoffs, contributing to the Eagles’ championship momentum. That Super Bowl victory marked the final NFL game of his career.

Tributes have poured in across social media from former teammates and fans who remembered Braman for his fearless style of play, unrelenting energy, and team-first attitude.
“Bryan was one of the toughest guys on the field and one of the kindest off it,” said former Texans teammate. “He gave everything for the game and his family.”
While his NFL career was defined by hustle and heart, Braman’s final battle showed the same resilience he displayed on the field. His fight against cancer and the overwhelming support he received reflect the respect and admiration he earned throughout his life.
