From Fast Food to Faith: Trump and Harris Hit the Campaign Trail in Style

Washington DC [US], October 22, 2024: The US presidential campaign witnessed contrasting scenes on Sunday as Republican nominee Donald Trump made an unusual pit stop at a McDonald’s in Philadelphia, while Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris attended worship services in Atlanta to rally support ahead of the upcoming elections.

Trump, known for his unconventional campaign tactics, donned an apron over his shirt and tie as he prepared fries and interacted with staff members at the fast-food franchise. He appeared enthusiastic about the task, remarking, “It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast,” before adding, “I like this job.” The visit was seen as a playful counter to Harris’ previous statements about working at a fast-food chain during her college years.

Meanwhile, Harris celebrated her 60th birthday by participating in two worship services in Atlanta. At Divine Faith Ministries International in Jonesboro, Georgia, legendary musician Stevie Wonder performed some of his iconic tracks, including “Higher Ground” and a rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song.” The congregation also sang “Happy Birthday” to the Vice President, who took the opportunity to address the challenges facing the nation.

“At this point across our nation, what we do see are some trying to deepen division among us, spread hate, sow fear and cause chaos,” Harris said during her address. “At this moment, our country is at a crossroads and where we go is up to us,” she added, emphasizing the need for unity and hope.

Harris also used her campaign stop in Michigan earlier this week to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Speaking to the media, she said, “This creates an opening that I believe we must take full advantage of — to dedicate ourselves to ending this war and bringing the hostages home.”

As the election approaches in less than two weeks, the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris intensifies, with both candidates using every opportunity to connect with voters across the country. Trump is seeking a return to the White House, while Harris aims for her first term as President.
