On Thursday, actor-turned-politician Govinda shared a heartfelt moment on Instagram, posting a photo with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the picture, Govinda is seen warmly greeting the Prime Minister.
“An honor to meet Shri Narendra Modi ji, Honourable Prime Minister of India, during the campaign in Mumbai. @narendramodi,” Govinda captioned the post. The image was taken during PM Modi’s Lok Sabha election campaign.
Earlier in April, Govinda also met with Home Minister Amit Shah. He shared a photo from that meeting as well, writing, “An honor meeting our Honourable Minister of Home Affairs of India, respected Amit Shah ji, personally.”
In March 2024, Govinda made his return to politics after a 14-year hiatus by joining the Shiv Sena party. The announcement was made in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai. Shinde welcomed Govinda, stating that his previous political experience would be valuable to the party.
An emotional Govinda, who began his acting career in the 1980s and became known for his family-friendly films, spoke about his return to the political arena. “I am back (in politics) after a 14-year-long ‘vanvas’ (exile),” he said.
Govinda’s initial foray into politics saw him successfully contest the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket in 2004, defeating veteran BJP leader Ram Naik. He later resigned from the Congress party.
