December 22, 2024: Ankara: Four people lost their lives on Sunday when a helicopter crashed into a hospital in southwestern Turkey during take-off, according to provincial governor Idris Akbiyik.
“The helicopter fell to the ground after striking the fourth story of the hospital during take-off,” Governor Akbiyik said. The victims included two pilots, a doctor, and an employee aboard the helicopter.
The accident occurred under conditions of poor visibility caused by intense fog, which is being cited as a likely factor in the crash. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The helicopter had departed from the roof of Mugla’s city hospital, en route to Antalya, when it encountered difficulties shortly after take-off. Footage from NTV television captured the chopper drifting in dense fog before it struck the hospital building and crashed into an empty field nearby.
This crash comes less than two weeks after a separate helicopter incident in Turkey’s southwestern Isparta province, where two military helicopters collided during an army training exercise, killing six soldiers. The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
Sunday’s accident has raised further concerns about aviation safety in adverse weather conditions.
