Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested in Death of ‘Million Dollar Beach House’ Star Sara Burack in Hampton Bays

Amanda Kempton, 32, faces felony charges for allegedly fleeing the scene after fatally striking real estate agent and Netflix star Sara Burack in the early hours of June 19.

The suspected driver in the fatal hit-and-run that killed Netflix’s ‘Million Dollar Beach House’ star Sara Burack has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident — a Class D felony in New York, carrying a potential sentence of up to four years in prison.

In a tragic turn of events, Amanda Kempton, 32, has been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run that claimed the life of Sara Burack, a luxury real estate broker and cast member of Netflix’s Million Dollar Beach House. The arrest was confirmed by the Southampton Town Police Department on Friday, June 20, as reported by multiple outlets including The New York Post, News 12, and Dan’s Papers.

Kempton, a resident of Virginia, is facing charges for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, a serious offense under New York law. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday, June 21. Authorities have not yet released details about the vehicle involved in the fatal incident. Attempts to reach Southampton police for further comment were not immediately successful.

The fatal hit-and-run occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, in Hampton Bays, a community in Long Island, New York. Burack, 40, was discovered unconscious on Montauk Highway near Villa Paul Restaurant, a well-known local establishment. Emergency responders transported her to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A resident of Southampton and a prominent name in the local real estate market, Sara Burack was known for her appearance on Netflix’s 2020 reality series Million Dollar Beach House, which followed agents navigating the competitive Hamptons property scene. She had previously worked with Nest Seekers International, a firm with offices in The Hamptons and New York City.

Beyond her on-screen persona, Burack was a seasoned professional with a deep-rooted connection to the real estate industry. Speaking to Hamptons.com in 2020, she shared, “My family has a commercial construction material sales business that I spent many years of my life working for. I have always been intrigued by real estate projects and decided to become a broker after my experience as a summer property manager in the summer house I would rent.”

She added, “I have been spending half the year in the Hamptons for the past 11 years. It was only natural to turn my love for real estate into a blossoming career.”

Burack’s sudden death has shocked the close-knit Hamptons community and fans of the show alike. As legal proceedings begin for Amanda Kempton, many are mourning the loss of a woman who turned her passion into success and became a familiar face in one of the world’s most exclusive real estate markets.
