IDF Confirms Terrorist Infiltration Along Jordanian Border; Attackers Dressed as Soldiers
Tel Aviv [Israel], October 19, 2024: An initial investigation by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has revealed that two terrorists who infiltrated Israel along the Jordanian border were not Jordanian soldiers but individuals dressed in military uniforms. Their identities remain under investigation, but the IDF has confirmed they were armed and posed a serious threat.
The terrorists managed to breach a section of the border that was secured only by several layers of barbed wire, cutting through it with wire cutters. IDF forces were quickly dispatched to the area and encountered the infiltrators just three meters inside Israeli territory, near the border.
During the confrontation, one of the terrorists was neutralized on the spot. The second suspect attempted to flee but was intercepted by an IDF unit positioned approximately 100 meters away and was eliminated on the hood of a military vehicle. The attackers opened fire during the encounter, striking the military vehicle eight times and injuring two soldiers.
The IDF suspects that the likely target of the attack was a greenhouse area near the community of Neot HaKikar. Despite initial concerns, the Tamar Festival, which is taking place around 50 kilometers from the scene during the Sukkot holiday, is not believed to have been a target of the attackers.
Searches are ongoing for a potential third suspect, but the prevailing assessment within the IDF is that only two terrorists were involved, and no further threats are expected.
