
"If You Drop Rohit and Virat, the Team Will Fall Apart," Says Yograj Singh
Chandigarh, January 20: Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, has weighed in on Team India’s selection for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, commending the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and selectors for their decisions.
Speaking to reporters, Yograj stressed the importance of retaining senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, dismissing concerns over their recent form.
“I really want to congratulate the BCCI and selectors who supported the team. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should not be dropped. If you drop them, the team will fall apart,” said Yograj.
He further added, “We may have lost in Australia, but let’s not forget the two matches we won there. Shubman or Virat should not be dropped. This selection reflects trust in experience and continuity, and I deeply appreciate it.”
The Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place from February 19 to March 9, will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and the UAE under a hybrid model. India’s matches will be played in Dubai.
India begins its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and will face arch-rivals Pakistan in a much-anticipated clash on February 23.
