India Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon Amid Ongoing Crisis
Beirut [Lebanon], October 25, 2024: India’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Noor Rahman Sheikh, handed over the first tranche of India’s humanitarian assistance to Lebanon on Thursday. Lebanon’s Health Minister, Firas Abiad, received the consignment of medicines, marking India’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Lebanon.
The Indian Embassy in Lebanon stated, “India stands committed to strengthening close ties with Lebanon.” This initial shipment is part of a broader effort, with India sending a total of 33 tons of medical supplies. The consignment includes essential medicines such as cardiovascular drugs, antibiotics, and anesthetics, aimed at supporting Lebanon amid rising regional tensions.
Highlighting India’s swift support, Lebanon’s Ambassador to India, Rabie Narsh, appreciated the gesture. He remarked, “India, even before asking, has rushed to propose humanitarian aid…We have enjoyed excellent relations for over 80 years.”
Narsh also expressed concerns over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, stressing the need for diplomatic action to address the escalating violence. He urged the United States to leverage its influence to halt Israeli military actions, citing accountability for war crimes.
This humanitarian initiative reflects India’s ongoing commitment to global peace and aid, especially during challenging times.
