Sirens, blackouts, and intercepted missiles marked a tense evening across border regions as India responded firmly to Pakistan’s latest aggression following Operation Sindoor.

In a major escalation of tensions following Operation Sindoor, India successfully intercepted eight missiles launched by Pakistan on Thursday evening. According to defence sources, the missiles were aimed at critical locations including Satwari (Jammu Airport), Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia.

Residents across Jammu and Kashmir reported multiple loud explosions, blackouts, and air raid sirens. Alerts were also sounded in Akhnoor, Kupwara, Baramulla, and Samba, creating widespread panic.
These developments follow India’s precision strikes a day earlier on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives.
As per the Indian Ministry of Defence, Pakistan attempted to target military installations in key Indian cities such as Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh using missiles and drones. However, India’s air defence systems neutralised the threats, and authorities are now recovering debris to provide definitive proof of Pakistan’s involvement.
In response to India’s anti-terror strikes, the Pakistan Army launched artillery and mortar fire along the Line of Control (LoC), killing 12 civilians and one Indian soldier.
While Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the Indian strikes an “act of war” and vowed a “befitting reply,” Defence Minister Khawaja Asif struck a more conciliatory tone, saying Islamabad is open to de-escalation if India steps back.
Meanwhile, Karachi Airport remains shut until 6 pm, and Islamabad and Lahore airports saw temporary closures, confirming the deepening tension on both sides of the border.
