India Slams Pakistan for Ceasefire Breach, Warns of Strong Response to Further Violations

Hours after a ceasefire was announced, India accuses Pakistan of repeated violations and assures vigilant military response along LoC and IB.

May 11, 2025: India has officially accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire agreement announced earlier today, which was set to take effect from 5 PM across land, sea, and air. In a strongly worded statement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir through drone activity and explosions in border areas.

Addressing a late-night press briefing, Misri emphasized that the ceasefire violations constitute a breach of the mutual understanding reached during Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level talks between the two countries.

“This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious note of these violations,” Misri said.

He urged Pakistan to act responsibly and take corrective steps to prevent further escalation. India’s armed forces, he added, have been placed on high alert and instructed to respond with firmness to any further cross-border provocations.

“The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations along the International Border as well as the Line of Control,” he added.

The ceasefire agreement had been brokered after high-level discussions and was publicly confirmed by both nations earlier in the day, with international mediation playing a role. However, the rapid breakdown of the truce raises serious concerns about the viability of sustained peace in the region.
