India’s Soft Power: A Significant Force in Shaping Global Discourse: Ruchira Kamboj

New Delhi, October 26, 2025: Former Indian envoy to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, emphasized India’s consistent stand on global issues, highlighting its “soft power” as a major influence in shaping global narratives. Addressing the second Chanakya Defence Dialogue, organized by the Indian Army and CLAWS, Kamboj spoke on the theme “Shaping the Global Agenda: India’s Multilateral Mandate.”

She cited India’s historical leadership on issues like apartheid and decolonization, stressing the nation’s role as a voice for the marginalized. “India’s approach to multilateralism has always been about moral leadership, not power politics,” she remarked.

The dialogue, centered on nation-building and security, reaffirmed India’s dedication to principled stances in global forums. Kamboj reflected on how India’s initiatives at the United Nations have paved the way for broader involvement in global humanitarian efforts, establishing India’s reputation as a defender of justice and equality.
