Israel-Iran Escalation Live Update: Iran Downs Israeli Drone
June 18, 2025 – The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict intensified early Wednesday as Israeli forces launched a new wave of airstrikes targeting oil depots and refineries northeast of Tehran, sparking massive fires and widespread panic near the neighborhood of Tajrish. The attacks mark the sixth consecutive day of cross-border hostilities between the two regional adversaries.

According to visuals circulating on social media, a large blaze was seen engulfing facilities near the Iranian capital, with thick plumes of smoke visible from miles away. The Israeli military had earlier issued an evacuation advisory for select areas in Tehran, Reuters reported.
In response, Iran fired approximately 10 ballistic missiles toward Tel Aviv. The Israeli military confirmed that most of the missiles were intercepted, but explosions were still heard across the city in the early hours of Wednesday.

This marks yet another escalation in a conflict that has already seen dozens of missile exchanges and targeted infrastructure strikes. Both nations have signaled a willingness to intensify the campaign.
In Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump convened his national security team late Tuesday to discuss the deteriorating situation. Following the high-level meeting, Trump held a direct call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump made a provocative statement aimed at Iran’s leadership:
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now…Our patience is wearing thin.”
Trump further reiterated that the U.S. was demanding Iran’s unconditional surrender, heightening fears of possible American involvement in the already volatile situation.
With major energy infrastructure under attack and cities on both sides bracing for more strikes, the conflict has entered a dangerous new phase. As diplomatic channels remain silent, the world watches with growing concern over the prospect of broader regional destabilization.
