Kevin Love on the Move: What Does the Jazz Gain in the 3-Team Deal?

July 7, 2025: The Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz, and Miami Heat have completed a major three-team trade, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Norman Powell is headed to Miami, John Collins joins the Clippers, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, plus a 2027 second-round Clippers draft pick, are on their way to Utah. The trade marks a significant roster shakeup for all three teams as they prepare for the 2025-26 NBA season.

Kevin Love on the Move: What Does the Jazz Gain in the 3-Team Deal?

Powell, 32, leaves L.A. after three standout seasons, posting a career-high 21.8 points per game last season while shooting an impressive 48.4% from the field. With one year left on his $20.5 million contract, he is eligible to sign a three-year, $80.6 million extension before January. Reports suggest the Clippers were hesitant to commit long-term, aiming to create cap space in 2027—the year Kawhi Leonard and James Harden’s deals expire.

John Collins, who averaged 19 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Jazz last season, now heads to L.A. with a $26.6 million salary for 2025–26. The 27-year-old forward, originally drafted by Atlanta, becomes a valuable piece in the Clippers’ evolving frontcourt. He too is extension-eligible for a potential three-year, $100.5 million deal before the upcoming trade deadline.

Meanwhile, Utah adds veteran forward Kevin Love, who averaged 5.3 points in 23 games for the Heat last season, and Kyle Anderson, who contributed 5.9 points across stints with Miami and Golden State. Love, 34, could bring experience to Utah’s young roster, while Anderson—under contract through 2027—adds valuable versatility off the bench.
