Minnesota’s silver Maine Coon sets a Guinness World Record with his 18.5-inch tail—and steals hearts with his playful personality.
A two-year-old silver Maine Coon from Minnesota, affectionately named Mr. Pugsley Addams, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for having the longest tail on a living domestic cat, measuring an impressive 18.5 inches (46.99 cm).
Mr. Pugsley’s distinctive tail first drew attention during his initial veterinary visit, where the attending vet remarked on its remarkable length. This observation led his owner, Amanda Cameron, to investigate further, ultimately discovering that her feline companion’s tail surpassed the previous record.
Beyond his record-breaking appendage, Mr. Pugsley is known for his playful and mischievous personality. He shares his home with Amanda’s children, Finley and Josephine, and three other cats: sisters Winnie and Dutchess, and brother Gomez—also named after a character from “The Addams Family.”
Amanda notes that Pugsley’s tail often becomes a focal point during their outings, with many referring to him as a “local celebrity.” Despite its grandeur, the tail occasionally poses challenges, especially during feeding times when it tends to get in the way.
