Hours after India’s tri-services strike on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, the External Affairs Minister delivers a blunt global message demanding action against terrorism.
May 7, 2025: New Delhi – In a powerful diplomatic signal following India’s Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a one-line global statement that summed up New Delhi’s stance in the wake of the Pahalgam massacre:
“The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.”
The comment came hours after India’s armed forces launched a coordinated tri-services strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, codenamed Sindoor, was carried out to avenge the April 22 attack in which 25 tourists and a Kashmiri pony operator were brutally murdered.
A Strategic Strike and a Strategic Message
The strike targeted infrastructure run by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, all of which have long operated with Pakistan’s tacit backing, according to Indian officials.
Jaishankar’s brief but impactful message was posted on social media, underlining India’s growing push to frame terrorism as a global threat requiring collective international action.
UN Engagement and India’s Diplomatic Pressure
Last week, Jaishankar held conversations with foreign ministers from non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Algeria, Greece, Sierra Leone, Guyana, Panama, Slovenia, and Somalia.

During these calls, he reportedly emphasized India’s commitment to justice, particularly in light of Pakistan also holding a rotating seat on the UNSC.
India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of providing safe havens to terrorist outfits and called on the global community to act decisively against states that sponsor cross-border terror.
As tensions continue following Operation Sindoor, India’s diplomatic messaging is clear: the fight against terrorism must be universal, uncompromising, and unrelenting.
