“Self-Deport the Easy Way or Be Banned Forever”: Trump Launches CBP Home App for Voluntary Deportation

President warns illegal migrants of permanent ban if they don’t use new app to leave the US voluntarily

Washington DC, March 21 — In a dramatic immigration policy move, President Donald Trump announced the launch of a new federal platform called the “CBP Home” app, allowing undocumented migrants in the United States to self-deport voluntarily, or face permanent expulsion and a lifetime ban on re-entry.

“People in our country illegally can self-deport the easy way, or they can get deported the hard way — and that’s not pleasant,” Trump said during a press briefing. “You’re never coming in again.”

The app, now available for free across all mobile platforms, is being presented as a streamlined tool for undocumented individuals to exit the country without triggering harsher penalties. Trump framed the initiative as a necessary step to reverse what he called the Biden administration’s misuse of the CBP One app, which he claimed was used to admit over a million illegal entrants.

“If they choose to leave using CBP Home, they may — at some point — be considered for legal entry. But if they don’t, they’ll be found, deported, and banned forever,” Trump warned.

The CBP Home app is positioned as a cost-saving measure that allows Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to focus on what Trump called “dangerous criminal aliens.” He emphasized that the app could help “save the U.S. taxpayer dollars and valuable law enforcement resources.”

Trump’s announcement arrives amid growing criticism of his administration’s deportation practices. Hundreds of undocumented migrants have reportedly been removed without public disclosure of their identities or the legal basis for their expulsion. Civil liberties groups have condemned the secrecy, accusing the administration of undermining due process and violating individual rights.

Despite that criticism, Trump doubled down on his approach, framing it as a matter of national security and legal order.

“Do it right and come back to our country. Do it wrong and you’ll never be back again,” he said.

The CBP Home app will now be added to the suite of tools available under Trump’s immigration overhaul, marking another chapter in the former president’s hardline approach to border control ahead of the 2025 elections.
