Stage Set for Trump's Grand Inauguration Ceremony
Washington DC [US], January 20: Preparations are in full swing for the grand inauguration ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump, who will take the oath of office on Monday. The day’s events will mark the beginning of Trump’s second term as President, featuring traditional rituals, celebrations, and formalities.
The day will commence with Trump’s departure to St. John’s Church for a service, followed by a visit to the Blair House, the President’s Guest House.
At the North Portico, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, and later greet President-elect Trump.
The formal proceedings at the Capitol will begin with Vice President-elect JD Vance taking the oath of office, followed by Trump’s swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States. Trump will then address the nation with his inaugural remarks.
Following the oath, a farewell ceremony for President Biden and Vice President Harris will take place. Trump and Vance will then participate in the traditional signing ceremony in the President’s Room at the Capitol.
This longstanding tradition, initiated by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, involves the new President signing nominations, memorandums, proclamations, or executive orders as one of their first official actions.
The day will continue with a luncheon and a troop review, after which Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will proceed to Capitol Hill to participate in the inaugural parade.
Later in the day, Trump will attend a signing ceremony in the Oval Office before heading to the Liberty Ball at the Convention Center. He will deliver informal remarks, followed by the ceremonial first dance. The evening will include two more inaugural balls: the Commander-in-Chief Ball and the United Station Ball.
The celebrations will conclude with President Trump’s return to the White House, marking the formal beginning of his presidency.
