Sunjay Kapur, the industrialist and former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, tragically died at 53 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while playing polo at England’s prestigious Guards Polo Club. The heart attack was reportedly precipitated by a bee entering his mouth during the match—an abrupt and heartbreaking end to a life marked by business success and sporting passion.

Sunjay Kapur was not only known for his corporate leadership but also revered in elite sports circles. A graduate of The Doon School and an alumnus of MIT and Harvard, Kapur chaired Sona Comstar and led the Aureus polo team. On the fateful day, he was engaged in a match against the Sujan team when he experienced a severe throat reaction after swallowing a bee, was rushed to hospital, but could not be revived.

His final social media post—a heartfelt condolence for the Ahmedabad plane crash victims—went viral, adding poignancy to his passing.

Upon hearing the news, Bollywood friends and family, including Malaika Arora, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan, visited Karisma Kapoor’s home in Mumbai to offer their sympathies.
