Thailand PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra Declares Over $400 Million in Assets: 200 Designer Bags and 75 Luxury Watches
January 3, 2025: Bangkok: Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has officially declared assets worth over $400 million to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), including an eye-catching collection of over 200 designer handbags and 75 luxury watches.
As the youngest daughter of telecom tycoon and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn assumed office in September 2024, becoming the fourth Shinawatra family member to lead the country in the past two decades.

Paetongtarn’s father, Thaksin Shinawatra, who once owned the Manchester City Football Club, is estimated to have a net worth of $2.1 billion, ranking him 10th among Thailand’s wealthiest individuals, according to Forbes.
Thaksin used his telecommunications empire, Shin Corp, to build a powerful political dynasty. Despite years spent in exile following his ousting in a military coup, the Shinawatra family remains deeply influential in Thailand’s political landscape.
While the declaration complies with Thailand’s legal requirements, the extravagant nature of the assets, especially the extensive handbag and watch collection, has drawn significant public attention and media coverage.
Political analysts believe this transparency is crucial for maintaining public trust amid Thailand’s complex political environment.
