U.S.:Yoga Teacher Found Dead After Blind Date; Family Suspects Foul Play

45-year-old Marcus Freiberger went missing after a February 21 blind date. His body was found weeks later in a Phoenix rock quarry, sparking a death investigation amid unanswered questions.

Phoenix, March 26, 2025 — A 45-year-old yoga instructor from Arizona who went missing after a blind date has been found dead, nearly a month after he disappeared. Marcus Freiberger, whose sudden vanishing sparked concern across social media, was discovered at a rock quarry in Phoenix on March 19, according to local authorities.

His sister, Tina Hall, confirmed the tragic news in a Facebook post, writing, “It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news that Marcus is no longer with us. Losing him feels like losing a part of ourselves.”

Freiberger, known for his dedication to yoga and wellness, was reported missing after his friends discovered his two-year-old dog left unattended in his apartment. He was last seen on February 21, the night of his blind date. Police were alerted on March 14, and his information was entered into state and national missing persons databases.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body using fingerprints through the FBI’s database. While the cause of death remains under investigation, the case has been labeled a death investigation, with many—including his family—suspecting foul play.

“He was handsome, young, ambitious, and loved by many,” said Freiberger’s father. “We just want answers. It’s very strange and heartbreaking. We’re hoping for a thorough investigation.”

Authorities have not confirmed who Freiberger was meeting or whether his white 2021 GMC Sierra pickup truck has been recovered. Surveillance footage last placed him at a Phoenix parking garage.

Tributes have poured in from the yoga community and beyond. His yoga studio shared a post reading, “May the soul rest in peace. May the soul attain Moksha.”

Friends and followers across social media have continued to express grief and disbelief, remembering Marcus as a vibrant soul who inspired many.
