Flight carries wounded and cancer-stricken Palestinians—half of them children—to receive treatment as part of UAE’s ongoing support for Gaza amid humanitarian crisis
Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 30: The United Arab Emirates welcomed its 24th humanitarian evacuation flight at dawn on Friday, airlifting 81 injured and cancer-stricken patients from the Gaza Strip, half of whom are children, for life-saving treatment. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Departing via the Karam Abu Salam crossing and Ramon Airport in Israel, the patients were accompanied by 107 family members and transported directly to UAE hospitals. The most critical cases were swiftly attended to by medical teams upon arrival, while others were transferred to Emirates Humanitarian City for ongoing care.
This mission is part of a broader directive from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which pledges medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals.
“The UAE’s continuous medical evacuation efforts demonstrate our steadfast commitment to delivering world-class care to the people of Gaza during this humanitarian emergency,” said Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency.
Al Shamsi added that the UAE will continue to coordinate with international partners and UN agencies to scale up its relief efforts amid the ongoing crisis.
Historic Humanitarian Support
Since the onset of the conflict, the UAE has been among the first to respond with rapid humanitarian and medical interventions. This includes the UAE field hospital in southern Gaza, the deployment of a floating hospital ship in Egypt’s Al-Arish Port, and extensive medical aid delivered directly to Gaza’s overstretched health system.
The UAE’s efforts are aimed at mitigating the catastrophic impact on civilians—particularly children, women, and the elderly—as Gaza continues to endure severe shortages of medical supplies, infrastructure damage, and escalating humanitarian needs.
Through swift action, regional coordination, and international collaboration, the UAE remains committed to being a lifeline for the people of Gaza in their time of greatest need.
