Targeted retaliation eliminates tube-launched drone site as powerful blasts strike key Pakistani airbases; airspace shut over security concerns
Jammu, May 10 — The Indian Army has destroyed multiple Pakistani military posts and a drone launchpad near the Jammu border in a strong retaliatory strike, defence sources confirmed on Saturday morning. The destroyed post was reportedly used by Pakistan to launch tube-launched drones aimed at Indian military infrastructure.

The precision strike came after Pakistan unleashed a large-scale drone offensive across 26 Indian military locations from Leh in the north to Sir Creek in the south, escalating tensions across the border.

Meanwhile, overnight shelling by Pakistan continued along the Line of Control (LoC), leading to a blackout in Kupwara and the tragic death of a senior government official in Rajouri, whose residence was hit by an incoming shell. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the casualty.
“We are responding with full force and precision. No provocation will go unanswered,” a senior army official said off-record.
Explosions Inside Pakistan: Nur Khan, Murid, and Rafiqui Airbases Hit
In a major development, powerful explosions rocked three major Pakistani air force bases early Saturday:
- Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi, just 10 km from Islamabad
- Murid Air Base in Chakwal, a UAV and drone operations hub
- PAF Base Rafiqui in Jhang, home to Pakistan’s frontline fighters
Videos circulating on social media and local Pakistani platforms show fire and chaos at the Nur Khan base, though these visuals remain unverified.

These strategic facilities were reportedly used in recent offensive operations. Nur Khan Air Base, formerly known as Chaklala, is a vital installation for both military operations and VIP transport and is located adjacent to Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ).
Civilian Airspace Shut Amid Allegations of Misuse
In response to escalating conflict and growing international scrutiny, Pakistan announced the closure of its civilian and commercial airspace, hours after being accused by India of using civil airliners as shields during military operations.

“Pakistan’s deliberate choice to keep its airspace open during drone launches endangered international civilian traffic,” Indian Army spokesperson Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said in a Friday briefing.
