Vijay Congratulates Rahul Gandhi on Being Elected Leader of Opposition

Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay has extended his congratulations to Rahul Gandhi on being elected as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The Congress party announced on Tuesday that Rahul Gandhi, the MP from Raebareli, has been appointed to this significant position in the 18th Lok Sabha, marking the end of a decade-long absence of a Leader of the Opposition in the Lower House since 2014.

Party leader K C Venugopal made the announcement in the national capital, stating, “Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been appointed as the LoP in the Lok Sabha.” The Lok Sabha had not had a Leader of the Opposition in the past ten years because no political party other than the ruling party had been able to secure the minimum number of seats required to nominate a Leader of the Opposition.

Vijay expressed his congratulations on social media, writing, “Congratulations to Hon’ble Thiru. @RahulGandhi Avargal for being unanimously elected by @INCIndia and its allies as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. My best wishes to serve the people of our Nation.”

Rahul Gandhi’s recent electoral success includes winning from both the Raebareli and Wayanad constituencies in the Lok Sabha polls. He secured a victory in Wayanad with a margin of 364,422 votes, defeating Communist Party of India’s Annie Raja, and in Raebareli, he won with a margin of 390,030 votes, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s Dinesh Pratap Singh.

Vijay, who recently celebrated his birthday, received wishes from leaders of AIADMK, BJP, and Congress in Tamil Nadu. However, the absence of birthday wishes from any DMK leader sparked discussions on social media.

On the professional front, Vijay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘The GOAT – Greatest of All Time.’ The makers recently released a 50-second teaser titled ‘The GOAT Bday Shots,’ which begins with an intense chase scene set abroad, showcasing a duo being pursued by a group of people on a bike. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘The GOAT’ is set to release on September 5.
