Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic shared his thoughts on enjoying family time with his kids when he doesn’t have matches, ahead of his Wimbledon semifinal clash. Djokovic advanced to the Wimbledon 2024 semifinals after his opponent Alex de Minaur’s walkover in the quarterfinal match on Wednesday in London. He is set to face Lorenzo Musetti, who defeated Taylor Fritz in his quarterfinal match.
Speaking to the ATP website, Djokovic said, “I do enjoy my time with my family, with my kids, for example. I had some really nice time with my daughter yesterday on-site. I try to mix things up. In those off days when I don’t have matches, I try to practise, but also get my mind off tennis a little bit and enjoy the quality time with close ones. But the tension and the pressure and the stress is really high, as high as it always has been.”
Djokovic’s victory was uncontested as Alex de Minaur suffered an injury before the game, leading to a walkover and securing Djokovic’s place in the semifinals. The Serbian star, chasing his eighth Wimbledon singles title to equal Roger Federer’s record, has had three days off to prepare for his upcoming match.
Djokovic leads Musetti 5-1 in their ATP Head to Head series and is entering his record-levelling 13th Wimbledon semifinal with confidence. With a record of 96 wins and 11 losses at Wimbledon compared to Musetti’s seven wins and three losses, Djokovic’s experience on the lawns of London is significantly greater.
