Pamela Anderson Reflects on New Projects and Career Resurgence at Zurich Film Festival

Pamela Anderson is making headlines with a series of exciting new projects, including the much-anticipated comedy ‘The Naked Gun’, where Liam Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr. During her appearance at the Zurich Film Festival, Anderson expressed her enthusiasm, praising Neeson’s comedic performance. “Liam is hysterical in it,” she shared with Variety, highlighting the buzz surrounding the film, produced by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins.

Anderson’s creative journey doesn’t end there. She’s also starring in ‘Rosebud Pruning’, directed by Karim Aïnouz. The project involved an immersive preparation process, where Anderson engaged in character-driven rehearsals, including family dinners. Praising Aïnouz’s direction, she said, “Karim is unbelievable,” about the film’s ensemble drama, which features a talented cast, including Elle Fanning, Jamie Bell, and Riley Keough.

At the Zurich Film Festival, Anderson was honored with the prestigious Golden Eye Award while promoting her new cookbook, ‘I Love You: Recipes From the Heart’. Reflecting on her journey to this recognition, she admitted, “I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more.”

A Career Renaissance

Anderson’s career has been experiencing a resurgence following the success of her documentary ‘Pamela, a Love Story’ and her memoir ‘Love, Pamela’. These projects have offered fans a deeper look into her life and struggles, allowing her to reconnect with her audience. Despite facing challenges in the past, including battles with depression, Anderson now feels a sense of empowerment with the opportunities ahead of her.

Embracing her past, Anderson shared how growing up with a “mischievous” spirit and her Finnish grandfather’s influence fueled her imagination and ambition. Reflecting on her time as a model, she humorously remarked, “I don’t know if I would call it modeling,” acknowledging the unconventional path that led her into the spotlight.

Looking Forward with Authenticity

Anderson’s recent stint as Roxie Hart in ‘Chicago’ on Broadway marked a pivotal moment in her career, pushing her to explore new dimensions of her talent. “You never know what you are capable of until you try,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of taking risks.

With a renewed focus on authenticity, Anderson is embracing projects that challenge her, such as ‘The Last Showgirl’, where she chose to appear makeup-free. She described the vulnerability of this decision, saying, “Walking with a bare face is so vulnerable,” and is eager for audiences to see her true self on screen.

Her role in ‘Rosebud Pruning’ allowed Anderson to face her fears, particularly when working alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Recalling their first meeting, she said, “She showed up to the table read in her spray tan… Now, I feel like I’ve known her all my life,” highlighting the bond they formed.

With a deep sense of purpose and a desire to make the most of her time, Anderson stated, “I just want to know what I am made of. There is never enough time, so why not just go for it?” Her words reflect a commitment to pushing boundaries, both personally and professionally, as she steps into this new phase of her career.
