The Padma Awards, recognized as among the highest civilian honors in India, are conferred in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, recognizing exceptional contributions across various fields including art, social work, public affairs, science, literature, and sports. The awards, announced annually on Republic Day, aim to acknowledge outstanding service and achievements.
During the ceremony last month, the President conferred three Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan, and 55 Padma Shri Awards on April 22. As part of the commemoration, the Padma Awardees paid homage at the National War Memorial and visited Rashtrapati Bhawan and Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, as per a Ministry of Home Affairs press release.
