Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf Du Plessis expressed his happiness at his team’s remarkable fightback to secure the final playoff spot in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. RCB clinched a crucial win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, a victory that Du Plessis described as “fun.”
RCB completed an extraordinary turnaround after a dismal first half of the IPL 2024 season, which saw them win just one of their first eight games. The team then secured six successive wins to reach the playoffs. RCB finished the league stage in the fourth spot with seven wins, seven losses, and a total of 14 points, achieving a higher net-run-rate than CSK, Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who also had 14 points.
Taking to Instagram, the RCB skipper shared his excitement, writing, “How fun was that… so proud of everyone the way they have made the impossible happen. Special night. Special group. Look forward to the next one.”
The Red and Gold franchise’s next challenge is the eliminator clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 22. The winner of this clash will advance to play in Qualifier 2 in Chennai on May 24 against the loser of Qualifier 1. The victor of Qualifier 2 will secure a spot in the final on May 26 in Chennai.
In the ongoing season, Faf Du Plessis has been in stellar form, scoring 421 runs at an average of 30.07 and a strike rate of over 163, including four half-centuries, with his best score being 64.
