October 21, 2024: Choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife, Lizelle D’Souza, have broken their silence following allegations of fraud of Rs 11.96 crore, involving a dance troupe . After reports surfaced that a case had been registered against the couple, they took to Instagram to issue a joint statement, expressing disappointment over the allegations.
In their statement, Remo and Lizelle urged people to refrain from spreading rumors without knowing the full story. They acknowledged the reports and clarified that they will put their case forward in due time while cooperating with the authorities. The couple emphasized the importance of not jumping to conclusions and assured their fans that they will address the matter soon.
Their statement read: “It has come to our notice through media reports that some complaint has been registered alleging fraud in regards to a certain dance troupe. It’s disheartening that such information has been published. We would like to request everyone to abstain from spreading rumours before ascertaining true facts.”
A case was filed at the Mira Road police station in Mumbai on October 16, following a complaint by a 26-year-old dancer against Remo D’Souza, his wife Lizelle, and five others. The case has been registered under sections 465 (forgery), 420 (cheating), and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, according to a police official.
The FIR alleges that the complainant and his dance troupe were cheated over a period stretching from 2018 to July 2024.
Remo, widely known for his role as a judge on dance reality shows such as Dance India Dance and Dance Plus, has also directed the popular ABCD film franchise, which includes the Street Dancer movie starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor.
