Netizens Review Game Changer: Ram Charan’s Stellar Presence Shines in Shankar’s Grand Comeback
January 10, 2025: Game Changer, Shankar’s highly anticipated political thriller, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and SJ Suryah, hit theaters today (January 10). This marks Shankar’s first Telugu feature film and Ram Charan’s much-awaited return to the big screen in a double role as father and son. Expectations were sky-high for the pan-India release, and early reactions from audiences and critics offer a mixed yet intriguing verdict.
The first shows of Game Changer began as early as 1 AM across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. By 5 AM, X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with reviews, and the consensus was clear: Game Changer is an entertaining mass entertainer.

One fan wrote, “Simply in one word… it’s good. You’ll love it. Game Changer is a clean film you can watch with your family without hesitation.” Another viewer applauded the chemistry between Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, as well as the songs, calling the writing “solid.” Many praised Shankar’s direction, calling the film a “glorious comeback” after his critical misstep with Indian 2.
Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan lauded the director’s effort, tweeting, “Shankar has delivered a remarkable comeback with engaging storytelling, stellar performances, and top-notch technical brilliance.”
Despite the applause, Game Changer wasn’t without its detractors. Several viewers criticised the film’s over-the-top action sequences, pointing out their lack of real-world physics. Sharing a video clip from the film, one user wrote, “Where is Logic? Where is Physics?”
Others took issue with the predictable storyline and dated comedy. A viewer tweeted, “Routine and outdated story, predictable screenplay, cringe-worthy comedy, and subpar VFX. The only positive is the audience who sat through the movie.”
Directed by Shankar, Game Changer blends electoral reforms with a mass entertainer format. The film features Ram Charan in a double role and SJ Suryah as the antagonist. It also marks Kiara Advani’s Telugu debut. Released in five languages, the film is expected to perform well at the box office despite its mixed reception.
