Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant has addressed and refuted rumors linking him to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the upcoming IPL season, labeling the claims as “fake news.”
Pant, who made a remarkable return to cricket after a lengthy recovery from a serious car accident in December 2022, was a key player in IPL 2024. He featured in 13 matches, scoring 446 runs, but unfortunately, his team finished sixth in the standings, failing to qualify for the playoffs.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Pant criticized a fan page for spreading misinformation about his possible transfer to RCB. He urged followers to be more discerning about the news they consume and to verify information before sharing it.
His post read:
“Fake news. Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media? Be sensible, guys. So bad. Don’t create an untrustworthy environment for no reason… It wasn’t just for you; it’s for a lot of people spreading misinformation.”
In addition to his IPL performance, Pant returned to the Indian national team during the T20 World Cup 2024, where he played eight matches and scored 171 runs at a strike rate of 127.61. He also made his comeback to Test cricket in a two-match series against Bangladesh, impressively scoring 109 runs in his second innings.
As Pant gears up for the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur, his focus remains on contributing to his team’s success and continuing his recovery journey. The young wicketkeeper-batsman’s commitment to Delhi Capitals has put an end to speculation regarding his potential move to RCB, reassuring fans of his dedication to the franchise.
