Rishabh Pant is probably to lead Delhi Capital in the IPL 2024

Rishabh Pant, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, will captain the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). According to ESPNcricinfo, the Delhi-based team anticipates that the 26-year-old will be fully recovered in time for the start of the lucrative domestic T20 league’s 17th season. Before the upcoming tournament, Pant tested himself at the Delhi Capitals’ recent camp in Kolkata, where he was observed by coaching staff members Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, and Pravin Amre. The wicketkeeper-batter visited the camp to talk about “the retention and release of players” in advance of the upcoming IPL 2024 auction, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, according to ESPNcricinfo.

After making his IPL debut in 2016, Pant played in 98 games for his teams, amassing 2838 runs at a strike rate of 147.97. Pant has been out of the cricket game for a few months as he recovers from serious injuries he received in an automobile accident. In his recovery, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter has shown admirable perseverance and resolve. His fans have been tracking his journey to complete fitness, and he has also been providing updates via social media. Pant was critically injured but survived a horrifying auto accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. He was airlifted to Mumbai for better, more specialised treatment after undergoing initial care in Dehradun.

Pant did not play in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, the ODI World Cup, or the most recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. It is hoped that he will soon regain his full fitness, though, and that he might even make the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup the following year.
