Rohit Sharma Leads Cricketers on a Hilarious Ride in The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2, Episode 3- Review

Published:

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 dropped on Netflix this Saturday is fun and interesting. Featuring five cricket superstars who led India to victory in the T-20 World Cup 2024, the episode was packed with humour, stories, and a lot of banter. The star-studded cricket lineup was led by skipper Rohit Sharma, joined by Shivam Dube, Surya Kumar Yadav (Sky), Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel.

This episode of the Kapil Show, was a significant step up from the previous one, which featured the cast of Devera, including Jr. NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor. In fact, with Sudheer, India’s most famous cricket superfan, and the wives of Rohit and Sky in the audience, this episode had both the cricketing edge and fan frenzy.

Comedy Highlights:
The episode featured some standout comedic performances. Jamie Lever, daughter of comedy legend Johnny Lever, made a splash as a new addition to the cast. Playing Misri, an AI robot, she delivered spot-on impressions of Farah Khan and Rakhi Sawant, injecting fresh energy into the episode.

The ever-popular Sunil Grover, reprising his character as Khali, along with Kiku Sharda as Funny and Krushna Abhishek as Garam, kept the laughs rolling in the second half. Though comedian Soundous started off the show as a trainee waiter, her performance was merely passable, we thanked that Rajiv Thakur was absent from the show. The humour remained intact, largely thanks to the cricketers themselves.

Inside Scoop on India’s T-20 World Cup Victory:
One of the most interesting parts of the episode came when Rohit Sharma opened up about India’s recent T-20 World Cup 2024 win. For the first time, Rohit shared how Rishabh Pant’s clever tactic during the final against South Africa played a key role in breaking the opposition’s momentum. While Rohit was setting up the field with Hardik Pandya, Pant cleverly delayed the game by getting attended to by the physio, which disrupted South Africa’s batting flow.

“Pant Sahab used his intelligence to make things work in our favor,” Rohit remarked, adding that slowing down the pace of the game helped India regain control. He also revealed how sledging the South African batters after Heinrich Klaasen’s wicket kept them distracted, ultimately leading to India’s victory.

Rohit’s humorous take on the sledging incident added a playful touch: “I told the boys to say whatever they wanted. We would handle the match officials later. Winning the trophy was all that mattered.”

Critique and Final Thoughts:
While the episode was undoubtedly fun, some production missteps were evident. Both Soundous and Jamie Lever’s entries felt poorly timed, disrupting some of the more engaging conversations between Kapil and the cricketing stars. However, these minor hiccups were overshadowed by the engaging stories and laughter shared between the team and the show’s cast.

For the initiated, Rohit Sharma’s episode in the last season was the most viewed week making him the winner amongst all the episodes!
