Ryan Reynolds has officially put to rest the ongoing speculations regarding Taylor Swift’s appearance in the upcoming Marvel Studios film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Speaking to E! News, Reynolds stated, “I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor, because she’s our friend–that is not in this film.”
The actor’s statement comes as a response to persistent rumours among Swift’s dedicated fanbase, the Swifties, who speculated about her potential involvement due to her close friendship with Reynolds.
Despite denying Swift’s cameo, Reynolds didn’t hold back on praising her comedic skills. “I always do say that if anyone ever were to take over the role of Deadpool, actually Taylor would be very good,” Reynolds commented, adding, “Because that’s a superpower that I don’t know that she shows everyone too often. She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”
Rumours about Swift’s cameo gained momentum when Reynolds shared a teaser for ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ that bore similarities to Swift’s ‘Evermore’ album cover. Further fuel was added by the fact that Swift’s ‘All Too Well’ music video was shot at Reynolds’ and Blake Lively’s home, and Reynolds featured in Swift’s ‘You Need to Calm Down’ music video.
Nevertheless, recent reports from Deadline have confirmed that Swift does not make a cameo in the film. Director Shawn Levy highlighted in an interview that while ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will feature several cameos, none are intended to overshadow the main storyline. “We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie,” Levy explained, adding, “But they are peppered in throughout. There’s a lot of characters.”
The internet continues to buzz with rumours and speculation about the numerous character cameos in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ keeping fans eagerly anticipating its release.
