October 13, 2024: Following the tragic killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, security has been heightened outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartment, in Bandra.
Siddique, who was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra, succumbed to his injuries at Lilavati Hospital on Saturday night.
Salman Khan, a close acquaintance of Siddique, visited the hospital to offer his condolences to the grieving family.
This security increase comes months after a previous incident in April when two men opened fire outside Khan’s residence, raising concerns for the actor’s safety. The assailants from that earlier case were apprehended in Gujarat.
In connection with Siddique’s killing, Mumbai Police have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act. Two suspects, Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested, with revelations about their planning emerging from the investigation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that Baba Siddique will be cremated with full state honors, in recognition of his service as a minister from 2004-2008 and as chairman of MHADA. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has also indicated that multiple teams have been dispatched to investigate the murder, with further details expected within a few days.
