November 2, 2024: Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Singham Again made an explosive debut at the box office, capitalising on the festive Diwali season. Directed by Rohit Shetty, this high-octane cop drama, filled with thrilling cameos, managed to amass ₹43.5 crore across India on its opening day, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. This impressive opening marks the biggest start of Ajay Devgn’s career, surpassing his previous best, Singham Returns, which earned ₹32.09 crore on its first day in 2014.
Singam Again didn’t just draw audiences with its storyline but also with the anticipation of star-studded appearances. Apart from Devgn reprising his role as Bajirao Singham, the film includes key roles by Shweta Tiwari, Dayanand Shetty, and Jackie Shroff, along with the return of Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar as their fan-favorite cop characters. New additions to the Shetty cop universe, such as Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty and Tiger Shroff as Satya, heightened the excitement. Arjun Kapoor joins the cast as the antagonist, while Salman Khan’s cameo as Chulbul Pandey added another layer of intrigue.

Occupancy rates across key regions demonstrated the film’s widespread appeal. In Mumbai, it led with 73.5% across 1,101 shows, followed closely by Ahmedabad with 76.25% across 751 screenings. NCR registered 63.00% occupancy over 1,310 shows, while Jaipur recorded the highest rate of 85.25% for 165 screenings. Other cities like Chennai (74.25%), Lucknow (77.5%), and Bengaluru (58%) also reported strong turnouts.
Despite the film being banned in Saudi Arabia due to concerns over its religiously inspired storyline, Singham Again continues to captivate Indian audiences. Shetty’s vision, described by some as a “Desi Avengers” with a Ramayana-themed storyline, has proven to be a unique draw this Diwali weekend.
Ajay Devgn expressed his gratitude towards fans for the phenomenal opening, saying, “It’s always a special feeling when the audience showers love on a project we put our heart into.” The film’s success is yet another milestone for Rohit Shetty’s cop universe and cements Devgn’s appeal as one of Bollywood’s top action stars.
With Singham Again taking a decisive lead in its box office clash with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the industry is closely watching to see how both films fare over the holiday weekend. The robust performance of these Diwali releases has set the stage for a strong season at the movies, promising plenty of entertainment for fans across India.
