Milan offers a loan with a €40 million buy option for the Danish forward, whose future at Old Trafford is now in doubt following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.

August 9, 2025: Danish attacker Rasmus Hojlund said just a week ago that he wanted to stay at Manchester United and battle for his spot. Now, there are rumors that the club is willing to let him go. The change comes as United close a deal for Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko. This will make the struggle for spots on the forward line much tougher.

Hojlund, who is 23 years old, had said in public that he wanted to stay at Old Trafford after a friendly match before the season started. But the club’s plans have changed because Sesko is coming from RB Leipzig soon. Before Saturday’s friendly against Fiorentina, Sesko is likely to be shown to the fans at Old Trafford.

Reports say that a number of clubs are interested in Hojlund, but Italian giants AC Milan are the clear favorites. Sources say that Milan, who are also not playing in Europe this season, have offered an initial loan contract. The deal includes a loan fee of €4 million (£3.47 million) for the season and the option to make the move permanent next summer for €40 million (£34.7 million).

It is still not certain if Manchester United will accept the offer, but it might mean the end of Hojlund’s time there. As negotiations move further, we should get more information in the next week. Milan’s Serie A season starts on August 23.
