Akash Ambani ‘Satisfied’ With MI Squad For IPL 2025

November 26, 2024: The Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up for the IPL 2025 season with a renewed squad, following the IPL 2025 mega-auction held in Jeddah on November 24-25. Team owner Akash Ambani expressed his satisfaction with the new lineup, highlighting the team’s focus on strengthening their bowling attack.

In an interview, Ambani acknowledged that while MI had to part ways with some familiar faces, they were pleased with the players they secured. “We lost a lot of ex-Mumbai Indians players and want to wish them the best in their new franchises. You’ll always be part of our family,” Ambani said. Despite these departures, MI remains confident in the squad’s balance and potential.

Ambani also emphasized that the team’s key objective during the auction was to find the right bowlers to complement their already strong core of players. “We had four of our top seven in place already, just needed to fill a couple of slots with the right complementary players,” he explained. “We focused a lot in this auction on getting our bowling combination right and I think we have achieved that at the end of two days of auction.”

As part of their retention strategy, MI held onto their “Fab Four” — Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma — as well as Jasprit Bumrah, ensuring a solid foundation for the team. Despite a disappointing 2024 season, where they finished at the bottom of the points table with only 4 wins and 10 losses, MI is aiming for a strong comeback in 2025.
