
Ashleigh Gardner Appointed As OCaptain Pf Gujarat Giants For Upcoming WPL Season
February 5, 2025: Gujarat Giants have announced Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner as their new captain for the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Gardner, who has been an integral part of the team since the league’s inception, has an impressive career that includes being a two-time Belinda Clark Award winner and playing a pivotal role in Australia’s success at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Gardner’s leadership qualities were recognized after her stellar performances, including being named Player of the Tournament at the 2023 T20 World Cup. “It is an absolute honour to be named the captain of Gujarat Giants,” Gardner said. “We have a great mix of young and experienced players, and I am looking forward to leading this fantastic group.”
Gujarat Giants’ head coach Michael Klinger expressed confidence in Gardner’s tactical acumen and her ability to inspire the team. He also acknowledged the leadership of the former captain, Beth Mooney, who will now focus on wicketkeeping and opening the batting lineup.
