June 1, 2025: Delhi Capitals batter Ashutosh Sharma made an explosive entry into English club cricket, smashing a 70-ball century during his debut for Wigan Cricket Club in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition on Saturday.

Coming in at a precarious 17/3 in 9.5 overs against Formby CC, Ashutosh showcased his trademark aggression and composure. He built a massive 153-run partnership with opener Aveen Dalugod, ultimately reaching his century in just 73 balls. His knock included 8 fours and 6 sixes, striking at 136.99.

However, once Ashutosh fell, Wigan saw a late-innings collapse, sliding from 170/3 to 195/7 in 41 overs.
The 25-year-old flew into the UK on the same morning and still made an immediate impact. He gained national attention with a power-packed IPL 2023 season for Punjab Kings, followed by a strong showing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, scoring 204 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 160.62.
While yet to register a century in professional white-ball cricket, Ashutosh’s T20 stats remain impressive — 976 runs in 44 matches, averaging 32.53 with a strike rate of 177.45, including eight fifties.
This debut ton in England could signal more big things to come for the aggressive right-hander.
